Welcome to Umfolozi TVET College

Esikhawini Campus – off to a great start

To welcome first year students to the College, Esikhawini Campus held an induction on 14 January 2019. In his welcoming address Campus Manager, Mr Khaya Zulu commended students for making a wise decision to join Esikhawini Campus. He highlighted that Esikhawini Campus has created a good name for itself as one of the leading campuses academically and in extra curricula activities such as sports and cultural activities and that new students should try and enhance the College’s reputation and not tarnish its image. Zulu added that he is very pleased that registration went as planned and classes will commence on time. Zulu applauded NSFAS for adding a new personal care allowance on top of the existing travelling and accommodation allowances which will ensure that students are able to take care of their personal hygiene and said the students were lucky to study during such times.
First year hospitality student Snenhlanhla Mbatha whose registration process started in September last year with a placement test said she found the process very smooth and is looking forward to joining the hospitality industry which she is very passionate about.
Mxolosi Mpanza who will be studying towards his Diploma in Public Management said after completing matric, he tried numerous times to get a job, but was unsuccessful. He is hoping that getting a qualification from a TVET College will increase his chances of getting a job because of the work experience that comes with it.
24 year-old Ntuthuko Majola from Eshowe said he decided to leave his hometown and study at Esikhawini Campus because of its good reputation. He added that the registration process was very easy since he managed to finish the whole process in one day, including his NSFAS application. Majola said he hopes to increase uMfolozi’s pass rate even higher.
