Welding machines for top uMfolozi achievers

After completing their 6 week training for Welding, 2 students walked away with welding machines at the uMfolozi TVET College Campus, Alton Campus on Friday, 16 March 2018.

According to College Welding Trainer, Leon Snyman, the aim of this initiative is to encourage students to excel in class, to inspire them to start their own businesses and to give back to the community.

Speaking to the Communications Team, an ecstatic Mduduzi Masinga (28) said he’d been waiting for this opportunity for a while and was finally relieved to be chosen to receive the machine. He said, “This is like a dream come true. I have already organized my tools at the garage at home and will start working from there. I was a semi-skilled welder but have gained more skills and can now weld in all positions. I would like to thank Mr Snyman for coming up with the idea which motivated us and also good at what we do.”

The second student, Goodman Msimanga (17) cried tears of joy after receiving his machine saying that he wouldn’t have made it if it weren’t for Masinga who motivated him to work hard and taught him a few welding tricks. “I cannot wait to start a small business in m y hometown in uLundi where there isn’t much competition. I would like to start making gates while I look for employment,” said Msimanga.
