PPO students take studying to another level
It was through hard work and attending lectures on public holidays that the Process Plant Operations (PPO) level 4 students were able to improve their results, beating all previous students. This was reported on 17 January by a jubilant Mandeni Campus PPO Lecturer, Mr Nceba Hoto.
The proud lecturer said that the class attained 85% certification and 96% pass rate and made history for the campus. “We’re aiming to get a 100% pass rate this year; we even began lectures on 3 January. We are committed to producing A class students,”said Hoto who commended the students for being able to work in a group even after classes and the unity among lecturers.
Sipho Gumede who came top of the class by scoring 4 distinctions said he was very proud of his class and advised students to follow suit. He went on to say, “It wasn’t easy, we had to work very hard and are even more proud to set a new trend of doing exceptionally well. With this knowledge, I’m looking forward to get training so that I can further my studies.”
Great start to the year
2018 registration kicked off with thousands of hopefuls who want to make a difference in their lives at all uMfolozi College sites.
Thandi and Lindiwe Khoza, who enrolled for Report 191 Tourism said the queues were long and tiring, but the process was made easier by existing College students who were ushering prospective students around. “It also helped that they were handing out application forms at the gate, I was able to fill in my forms and submit them and after 4 days I received an sms informing me that I had been accepted and that I had to go to campus to get my acceptance letter and apply for NSFAS,” said Thandi.
The 22-year-old from Esikhawini chose uMfolozi College because of its good reputation and it's close to her home.
According to Sean Moodley, a new Millwright student at Richtek Campus, registration went smoothly. “I am looking forward to starting classes on 1st February and I’m excited to be a new member of the uMfolozi College family,” he said.
