Chief Albert Luthuli Campus hosted an educational Staff Wellness Day in collaboration with Sundumbili/Iisthebe and Maphumulo Campuses on 19 July.
In her welcoming speech, uMfolozi College Acting Principal, Mrs Elsie Du Toit congratulated campus management for planning such an informative event. Du Toit emphasized the importance of giving back to staff by channelling their thoughts towards the right direction with regards to how to best manage their lives. “It’s necessary for us to help you cope with life since there’s a lot that we do outside of work which is time consuming. Spend time daily with yourself. Make sure you’re good to yourself and that you treasure yourself as a human being,” advised Du Toit.
Higher Health Provincial Coordinator Ms Nonhlanhla Nkosi said, “Support each other, whenever you have support at work, you are bound to do better. If you have been performing the same duties for a long time and you are seeking a new challenge, consider lateral movement or study something new.” “As an employee you are responsible for determining the type of culture that you create at work. Make sure it’s not a culture of back-biting. Come up with ways to appreciate your colleagues. You can even initiate a colleague appreciation day. Do a self-assessment and ask yourself how did you become the person that you are now and come up with solutions of how you can improve.”
