The beautiful ladies of Eshowe Campus were all dolled up for the Women’s Day celebration which took place on 8 August 2024 at Eshowe Campus. The purpose of the event was to encourage, honour and praise women and the power they possess.
Guest speaker Ms Zanele Ngubane, Campus Manager from Elangeni TVET College – Mpumalanga Campus shared an inspiring story of how she overcame challenges in her career. She encouraged women to keep going, no matter how hard things may get. “Never stop thanking God for how far he has brought you. Stay focused and stand still through all circumstances. Life was not easy for me, but I used my challenges as stepping stones to where I am today,” she said.
Mrs Sthembile Mhlongo shared the sermon for the day, she spoke briefly about her upbringing, having grown up in poverty, but somehow God saw her through. She went further to talk about the many challenges that women face today. “In South Africa women go through many hardships, abuses and injustices. In the past, when you saw a man you expected that he would protect you and keep you from danger, these days, in many instances, you find that that is the very person who will cause you harm. Our children are not safe, fathers are raping their own biological children, and women are being murdered every day by the very people who claim to love them. Many women are walking around with emotional or physical scars,” she said. She urged women not to give up and pray tirelessly for the country and its women. As the celebrations continued, the ladies danced and enjoyed some musical classics. A delicious lunch was prepared and served by the hospitality students.
