
Promise Mpontshane is eagerly preparing to compete against the country’s top welding champions at the national WorldSkills South Africa competition on 8 March 2026.
The 21-year-old welding star is training vigorously every day, determined to bring the trophy home. Her journey to the nationals follows an impressive victory at the provincial competition last year, which was hosted at Majuba TVET College. There, Mpontshane secured first position, earning her place on the national stage.
Passionate about welding, Mpontshane believes that success in the trade requires dedication, discipline and a strong work ethic. “To excel in welding, you need to put in a lot of hard work and determination,” she says.
With her commitment, skill and winning mindset, Mpontshane is ready to showcase her talent and compete among the best at nationals, aiming to once again make her supporters proud.
